The last two weeks of August have been taken up with the news of the long awaited attempt to find the lost Nazi Gold Train near Walbrzych in southern Poland. Though news has been scant in England none-the-less reports of the progress have filtered through; dismal as it certainly is. One feels for the two men who hit the media by storm last August claiming that they knew by a 99% certainty where the train was hidden and subsequently engaged an expensive legal team to help them protect their finders reward of 10% of the total value; a sum if reports of the trains cargo value are correct, of perhaps $50 million. Having waited a year to realise their dream of digging for the train alas nothing this past two weeks has reaffirmed it's existence at all. Not yet down hearted Andreas Richter and Piotr Koper claim that they will continue with the search and it is a search with precious little documentary evidence that the train or trains ever existed at all; Nazi efficiency or desperation with the Red Army closing in from the Eastern Front in late 1944. Whether continued searching will eventually pay off remains to be seen but we here certainly wish them all the luck that they will certainly need.
