On a good note the Fan Bay Deep Shelter at Dover was opened to the public on July 20th 2015. See our page under Newhaven Defences, HMS Forward. This is a great example of a wartime deep shelter cut deep into the chalk cliffs and similar in layout to the Tunbridge Wells Bunker featured on this website. Guided tours are available and we hope to be visiting this ourselves in August for a full report.
We are also pleased to be informed that the land on which the former RAF Friston airfield lies is to be opened up to the public from September 5th 2015 with pertinent historical information in support for visitors to fully appreciate the role of this former RAF station. We will be adding more about this to our dedicated page during August.
Finally just to add a final remembrance note for the Battle of Britain pilots who flew to become the "Few" 75 years ago this month.
